6-Year-Old on Terror Watch List

A 6-year-old little girl from Ohio has been placed on the U.S. government's terror watch list. According to her father, the most threatening thing she's ever done is be mean to her sister.

It happened recently, when the family flew from Cleveland to Minneapolis. The Thomases were allowed to fly that day, however they were told to contact the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to "clear up the matter." After the trip, 6-year-old Alyssa received a letter from the government that nothing in her file was going to be changed.

A Fifth Grade Girl's Impact on the Oil Spill

While the oil spill is heart-breaking, devastating and frustrating, one little girl decided to something about the oil-drenched birds.

Olivia Bouler, who turns 11 on Friday, has raised thousands of dollars to help the birds affected by the oil spill. She does what a fifth grade girl is supposed to do in her spare time: draw and paint. Raising an estimated $80,000 to date, Olivia sends her sketches and paintings of birds to hundreds of people who then donate money to any of several organizations helping wildlife in the Gulf.

"It’s really crazy how many people want my drawings," Olivia says.

It takes her about 15-30 minutes per drawing/painting, and she's more than happy to do it in order to help save the birds. The Audubon Society is overseeing the donation process.

AOL donated $25,000 to Audubon in her name and also gave Olivia her own artist's gallery on its site. She has a Facebook page with more than 10,000 fans.

5 Ways to Celebrate a Green Mother's Day

1. Picnic (instead of movies). Instead of wasting gas, electricity, and money (movies are expensive these days!) to see a film, organize a picnic for you and your family. If you have a garden, even better. Use those fruits and vegetables to spend some quality time with your loved one enjoying a healthy feast together.

2. Homemade Lemonade (instead of soft drinks). There are no nutritional benefits of soft drinks or any type of soda, so try and avoid drinking them as much as possible. Make an activity out of brewing up some refreshing, delicious homemade lemonade. Having a lemonade sale with your kids on your front lawn is a fun idea as well.

3. Gardening (instead of shopping). Shopping can wait until later. Spend some time getting back in touch with nature and start a garden -- or if you already have one, work on it. It's healthy for your mind and body, and provides delicious snacks to munch on. Have your kids help you, and make sure they're dressed to impress in PO clothes!

4. Walk (instead of drive). Need to get somewhere? Let's get back to basics. Walking is peaceful and therapeutic, as well as a great Mother's Day quality activity. Get Outside and Wear What's Comfortable

As summer is fast approaching, our kids like to get outside and be comfy while being active. Check out these great summer sales we're having just in time for the hot weather.

Here are 3 ways your kids can have fun, stay comfortable (in POKids clothes, of course!) and enjoy the warm weather.

1) Any sports activity. It's important to encourage your kids to stay active while having fun, and playing sports is the perfect way to do so. Instead of playing video games inside on a play date, set up a soccer or baseball field in your backyard and toss around a ball with them. If you have girls that aren't into sports just yet, playing on a swing set, doing some gymnastics or a simple game of tag are all great ways to get active while having fun.

2) Gardening. We're not telling you to have your child start gardening at such a young age, but we're certainly encouraging you to ask for some help from your young ones. Flowers, fruits and veggies are perfect for gardening during the spring and summer seasons, and we all know it can get tiresome. Having your kids do some easy tasks like digging the holes for the roots or watering the already planted products is a fun way to engage your kids in an outdoor activity. 1) Recycle. One of the most beneficial and important things you can do for the environment is recycle. Recycling waste allows materials to be reused rather than thrown out -- and buying recycled material is promoting that healthy lifestyle. Make the right choice.

2) Buy a Water Bottle. Why waste money and plastic on something that comes out of a faucet for free? Having a water bottle is frugal, convenient, and good for the environment.

3) Bike to Work. As the warm weather is rolling in, why not be outside a little more? Not only are you helping the planet, you're helping your health. Burn some calories and save loads of gas by pushing those pedals instead of a car.

4) Turn Off the Lights. How many times do you leave the house without turning off all of the lights? By making sure the lights are off when you're not there, you'll save money on your electricity bill and power on the electrical grid.

5) Buy Organic. We're not saying that you have to eat 100% organic from now on, but introducing organic produce into your diet will make a difference. It is a certified sign of chemical-free food and a clean earth.

Spring Ahead

Welcome to the new and improved PO Baby Blog! We're thrilled to have redesigned our template to make things clearer and easier for you -- our readers.

As springtime is finally making a big comeback, we'd like to reflect on new beginnings and those feelings of freedom everyone gets around this time of year. That sense of renewal, refreshment and a chance to almost start over slowly infuse our minds; putting a smile on our insides and out.

And we're not the only ones that feel this way -- our children do, as well.

Meet Daniel. As this is only his third spring, you can imagine his excitement as the warm weather invades the outdoors. Last fall, he couldn't quite figure out how to keep the pedals going forward and kept breaking instead. However, six months is an eternity for a three year old and after a quick tip from mom to "keep your heels down," he was off! You could feel his excitement as he confidently tore up the promenade in Riverside Park, pedaling madly until dark.

On the subject of renewal and freedom, what are your favorite "springtime firsts"? The first day you walk outside without a jacket. The first hint of spring bulbs peaking up from the ground. In Daniel's case, his first successful bike ride.

Many countries across the globe are passing laws to tax or ban plastic bag usage and people are starting to act on the Earth's behalf. Together we can help save this planet with every bag we reuse. Seattle's bill for taxing plastic bags was just voted down, but it is just the beginning and a sign of change. Communities need to continue to strive towards a solution and be proactive about setting an example for others.
